Did you know that the Napa Valley Vine Trail begins right here in Vallejo at the Ferry Building? The first 7.2 miles of the Vine trail run through Vallejo, with scenic pathways along the shoreline and surrounding wetlands. Ultimately, the trail will continue all the way to Calistoga (a planned 47 miles, with 33 already complete!), providing Solano and Napa County residents an amazing car-free opportunity for recreation, commuting, and environmentally friendly transit.
Whether you’re walking, running, or biking, Vallejo’s section of the Vine Trail offers a unique way to experience the city’s natural beauty — from breezy waterfront views to peaceful marsh habitat filled with birds and native wildlife. Join us in helping more people discover, care for, and take pride in one of Vallejo’s greatest outdoor spaces.
The Napa Valley Vine Trail's Ambassador Program is a community-powered effort that helps make the Napa Valley Vine Trail safer, more welcoming, and easier to enjoy for everyone. Trail Ambassadors are a group of dedicated volunteers who pledge to be a friendly, helpful face on the trail—offering support, information, and a positive presence for walkers, runners, cyclists, families, and visitors alike.
At its heart, the Trail Ambassador program reflects commitment to building not just a trail, but a thriving community resource: one where people feel supported, informed, and inspired to return again and again.
The Vine Trail creates a safer, more welcoming way for people to move through Vallejo outside of a car. By connecting neighborhoods, parks, the waterfront, and community spaces through a dedicated walking and biking path, the trail encourages more people to be active outdoors and strengthens the connection between residents and the city around them. A well-used public space also helps create a stronger sense of community presence, stewardship, and care.
Vallejo is home to incredible shoreline habitat, wetlands, and open space — and the Vine Trail offers a way to experience and appreciate these natural areas firsthand. The trail encourages walking and biking over short car trips while helping connect people to the city’s ecology, native wildlife, and waterfront environment. As more residents use and care for the trail, we help build a culture of environmental stewardship and pride in Vallejo’s natural beauty.
The Vine Trail provides an accessible outdoor space for walking, running, biking, and enjoying nature close to home. Safe and inviting trails make it easier for people of all ages to stay active, improve mental well-being, and spend more time outdoors. Beyond recreation, the trail creates opportunities for community connection through group hikes, cleanups, and local events that bring people together around a shared love for Vallejo.
Great public spaces help shape how people experience a city. The Vine Trail has the potential to bring more energy and activity to Vallejo’s waterfront and surrounding neighborhoods by attracting walkers, runners, cyclists, visitors, and local events. As the trail grows, it can support nearby businesses, encourage beautification and public art, and help showcase Vallejo as a city rich in nature, creativity, and community.
We have big plans for our section of the Vine Trail. We would love to make it a bustling corridor full of public art and local business that attracts visitors from all over the world, not unlike the Rail Arts District in Napa, the Atlanta Beltline, or New York City's High Line.
Why not here? Help us make it happen - reach out, partner with us, volunteer, and together we can make positive change.
